Course Overview
What is Fitness Athlete L1 Online?
This 8-week, online course is designed for the rehabilitation provider looking to work with the CrossFit athlete/functional fitness athlete (Orange Theory, FitBody Boot Camp, etc.), powerlifter, Olympic weightlifter, bodybuilder, or recreational gym go'er. Whether you have never worked with these populations, work with them on a regular basis, or hope to work with them in the future, this course is designed for you.
Common clinical patterns will be shared each week via case studies, as well as ways to assess in the clinic when coaching isn't getting the job done in the gym. Research will be shared that supports the use of heavier lifting & high intensity exercise in the clinic to help patients already active in the gym or facilitate others towards a more fitness forward lifestyle.
Students will be brought up to date on important topics related to diet & nutrition, sleep, supplements, and recovery modalities.
The most common barbell & gymnastics movements, such as the back squat, deadlift, shoulder press, pull-up, etc. will be covered asynchronously as a complement to the points of performance, faults, and coaching cues taught in our Fitness Athlete Live seminar.
Format
All content (videos, resources, etc.) is delivered through our online learning platform with discussion facilitated through the ICE Physio App.
Homework will consist of 8 weeks of lecture, programming homework, and quizzes.
Live video conference calls take place weekly to discuss content and dive deeper into the material. These meetings take place on Mondays at 8 PM EST and are recorded if you cannot attend live. While live attendance is optional, you will be responsible for viewing the recording afterwards as you will be assessed on the content discussed.
Students can expect to need to dedicate 2 hours per week to class between lecture & homework.
