#GutcheckThursday - Workout of the Week - April 11, 2024

Last week we hit a brief, bodyweight chipper to celebrate “Ernie.” This week, we’re back to the bar! Grab a friend and hit some barbell cardio for this week’s #GutcheckThursday

Intended Stimulus

Simple, but not easy. Find a weight for you and your partner that allows you to move 5-10 reps touch-and-go or quick singles before swapping out. The deadlifts primarily serve to tax your grip to make the cleans & snatches that much more difficult despite the decreasing loads.

Movement Standards

The deadlift begins from the floor and finishes at the top, hips & knees fully extended, shoulders behind the plane of the barbell

The power clean begins from the floor and finishes at the top with the barbell in the front rack position, hips & knees fully extended

The power snatch begins from the floor and finishes at the top with the barbell overhead, elbows extended & in line with ears, hips, and knees fully extended

Adaptations / Modifications / Scales

Reduce the load on the barbell to meet the intended stimulus of moving for 5-10 reps at a time touch-and-go or fast, consistent singles

Avoid reducing the volume of this workout as split equally, it will only be 50 reps of each movement per person

Consider modifying to a dumbbell variation if the barbell is not in the cards this week
