Intended Stimulus

This short, 9-minute bodyweight workout was designed to honor Ernie Perreault (@99yearsyoung), who left us in February 2021. Ernie was a regular at his gym, working out his day with his grandson, Devin, and posting his workouts frequently to Instagram. Each year, ICE honors Ernie with this special edition of Gutcheck Thursday. It’s only 9 minutes, so make sure to give it hell!

Movement Standards

The air squat finishes at the bottom, hip crease below knee, and at the top with hips & knees reaching full extension

The burpee finishes at the bottom, chest and thighs striking the ground, and at the top with hips & knees reaching full extension before a short jump off the ground is performed

The push-up finishes at the bottom, chest & thighs striking the ground, and at the the top with elbows in full extension

The Abmat sit-up finishes at the bottom, shoulder blades touching the ground, and at the top with shoulders stacked over hips, feet butterflied together

Adaptations / Modifications / Scales

As the time domain & volume of this workout is relatively low, try not to reduce the rep scheme

If needed, reduce the range of motion on any of the movements in order to complete an unbroken set for each movement
