An evidence-based and practical approach to the evaluation and treatment of the injured runner.

This course will provide an evidenced-based and practical approach to the evaluation and treatment of the injured runner. Didactic lectures will focus on current literature pertaining to epidemiology, running mechanics, and therapeutic exercise. Video-based case studies will also be presented to enhance the lectures and provide the “big picture” view of the injured runner. An overview of gait-analysis and running mechanics will be provided. Strategies for gait re-training will also be discussed. Participants are expected to have a basic understanding of biomechanics and gait analysis, and are encouraged to review basic biomechanics of gait prior to the course. A video-based lab session will focus on gait analysis of the injured runner. Small groups will review and discuss mechanics and propose treatments based on the provided videos.
