Frequently Asked Questions

Is there internal examination and treatment in this course?

There is a 2 hour block of internal examination during the morning of Day 1 (Saturday).

Is internal work required?

You have two options:

Option A: Learn & Practice Internal Anorectal Assessment Skills

You receive full CEU's if you:

  • Participate in the internal lab, which occurs from approximately 10 AM - 1 PM (lunch) on Day 1. The expectation is that participants will complete the exam on another classmate who may have different genital anatomy, and have the exam performed on themselves unless otherwise discussed with the instructor prior to the lab.
  • If you do not plan to use your own body for the lab, you MUST bring a person who you can practice these skills on.
  • Pass a "skills check," done throughout the lab

Option B: Learn about Internal Anorectal Assessment, but do not practice on a human model

You receive full CEU's if you practice internal assessment and treatment skills under instructor guidance using different pelvic model options.

What privacy measures do you use during this course?

We utilize sheets for draping during the internal portion of this course for modesty. In addition, we block off any windows and ensure all doors/points of entry are locked. If the facility has cameras, we tape over the cameras during the internal portion of the course.
