Course Overview
What is CMFA L1 Online?
This 8-week, online course is designed for the rehabilitation provider looking to work with the CrossFit athlete/functional fitness athlete (Orange Theory, FitBody Boot Camp, etc.), powerlifter, Olympic weightlifter, bodybuilder, or recreational gym go'er. Whether you have never worked with these populations, work with them on a regular basis, or hope to work with them in the future, this course is designed for you. Clinicians will learn the foundational movement patterns shared across these training methodologies, points of performance, faults, and coaching cues to improve these movement.
In addition, common clinical patterns will be shared as well as ways to assess in the clinic when coaching isn't getting the job done in the gym. Research will be shared that supports the use of heavier lifting & high intensity exercise in the clinic to help patients already active in the gym or facilitate others towards a more fitness forward lifestyle.
Format
All content (videos, resources, etc.) is delivered through our online learning platform with discussion facilitated through a private Facebook page. Live video conference calls take place Monday evenings at 8 PM EST to discuss each week's content and dive deeper into the material. Attendance at the Monday sessions is certainly encouraged however all sessions are recorded and made available to be viewed whenever is convenient for the learner. At no point throughout the class is it mandatory that you are available at a set time, so there should be minimal interruption to your work and life schedule. For those that cannot attend live, a Google Doc is available for Q&A to be answered at the online meetings.
