Helen Shepard

Dr. Helen Shepard is a physical therapist, board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist, a certified strength and conditioning specialist, and is certified in dry needling. She received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of the Pacific in 2017 and Bachelor of Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she graduated with highest honors. Helen is a graduate of VOMPTI’s Orthopedic Residency program and passed her Orthopedic Clinical Specialist board examination in 2022.

In addition to treating patients, Helen is an Assistant Professor at South University, teaching Anatomy and Physiology as well as several courses in the Physical Therapist Assistant program. She believes in individualized patient care tailored to each patient’s symptoms, situations, and lifestyles. Helen values listening to her patients’ stories and conducting in-depth assessments that allow her to focus on functional interventions to decrease pain and maximize patients’ potentials. When she’s not teaching or treating patients, you can find her cheering on the Tarheels, exploring local breweries with her husband, Austin, and dog, Ryman.
