The Institute of Clinical Excellence (ICE) was created in 2012 out of a need to provide high-quality, evidence-based, educational experiences. ICE is a team of highly skilled, expert clinicians in several different areas of clinical practice.

Our mission Is To create Physical Therapist 2.0.

We believe the key to achieving our mission is to promote proficiency in foundational areas along with specialized knowledge and skill in domains where clinicians are highly passionate.

DR. MITCH BABCOCK, PT, DPT, SFMA, CF-L2

Mitch is the head coach and co-owner of CrossFit Fenton in Fenton, MI where he specializes in the treatment of the fitness athlete as both a physiotherapist and CrossFit certified coach. He co-owns Health HQ Wellness & Physical Therapy, located adjacent to CrossFit Fenton.

DR. JORDAN BERRY, PT, DPT, CF-L1

Jordan is a residency-trained physical therapist and CrossFit Level 1 Trainer located in Charlotte, NC. He co-owns and operates Onward Charlotte, a physical therapy and performance clinic, where he specializes in the treatment of fitness athletes, as well as neck and back pain. Jordan also co-owns Onward Physical Therapy, an out-of-network clinic chain powered by ICE-trained clinicians.

DR. KRISTEN CARLIN, PT, DPT, CLT, OCS, CF-L1

Director of Business Relations

Dr. Carlin has been practicing in outpatient orthopedics since 2007. She is the owner/CEO of Evoke Physio, an out-of-network private practice in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She a board certified specialist in orthopedic physical therapy as well as a Certified Lymphedema Therapist, and teaches in various capacities including adjunct faculty for Chatham University.

DR. ERIC CHACONAS, PT, PhD, FAAOMPT

Eric teaches extremity orthopedics with an emphasis on exercise prescription and manual therapy. He is an associate professor at the University of St. Augustine with research interests primarily focused on the rehabilitation of shoulder and knee conditions.

Eric also serves the Florida Physical Therapy Association as speaker of the assembly of representatives.

DR. JESSICA DAVIS, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Jessica has been practicing for 18 years and a graduate of Evidence in Motion's Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship program. Jessica specializes in the treatment of performing artists. Currently, she serves as an Alternate Delegate for Pennsylvania to the APTA House of Delegates.

DR. MORGAN DENNY, PT, DPT

Morgan received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Montana in 2006 and has been in clinical practice for the past 11 years. Her clinical focus is orthopedics but is very passionate about the role of physical therapists in global health. Morgan co-founded STAND: The Haiti Project alongside her partner, Justin Dunaway.

DR. JUSTIN DUNAWAY PT, DPT, OCS, Cert. SMT, Cert. DN

Dr. Dunaway received his doctorate in physical therapy from Youngstown State University and has worked in outpatient physical therapy with special interests in orthopedic manual therapy, spine symptoms, and chronic pain. Justin has completed extensive training in manual therapies and received multiple certifications including: spinal manipulation (Cert-SMT), dry needling (Cert-DN), board certification as an Orthopedic Specialist (OCS), and a graduate diploma in Extremity Manipulation.

Dr. Dunaway has experience teaching manual therapy seminars for the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy and The Manual Physical Therapy Alliance. He is also the president of STAND: The Haiti Project. This organization recruits multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams and brings them to rural Haiti in order to deliver much needed care to the people living at the crossroads of poverty and disability.

DR. ALAN FREDENDALL, PT, DPT, CF-L2

COO of ICE

Alan serves as the COO at ICE, running logistics and operations related to each and every course. He manages the Virtual ICE program and is usually the voice behind ICE social media.

In addition to serving the faculty with ICE, Alan coaches CrossFit as a CrossFit Level 2 Coach at CrossFit Fenton. He co-owns Health HQ Wellness & Physical Therapy located adjacent to CrossFit Fenton where he treats CrossFit athletes, olympic weightlifters, powerlifters, and traditional orthopaedic patients. Alan is an avid CrossFit athlete, and enjoys employing population health strategies through a CrossFit lens.

DR. SARAH HARAN, PT, DPT, OCS, CF-L2

Sarah has been practicing in Seattle, WA since 2007 in outpatient orthopedic settings with specialties include adult and pediatric sports injuries. Sarah has a particular interest in treating conditions of the hip and pelvis such as femoroacetabular impingement and labral tears, but also enjoys treating orthopedic injuries of the shoulder, neck, knee, foot/ankle, jaw and spine.

Sarah opened Arrow Physical Therapy in Seattle, WA in 2016. She runs a fully cash practice and now consults with practitioners looking to do the same. Outside the walls of the clinic, Sarah coaches at Ballard CrossFit in Seattle. Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends. She finds time for CrossFit, spinning, rock climbing, backpacking, staying as active as possible, enjoying local dance and theater, and cheering on the Seattle Seahawks!

DR. ALI HARTMAN, PT, DPT, Cert. APHPT, CF-L1

Clinically trained as a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Ali has a deep appreciation for the resilience of the human body and the value of caring for it in all capacities. With special interest in Prevention & Health Promotion, performance, and the management of the industrial and fitness athlete alike.

Ali mostly enjoys helping others achieve their best, in whatever capacity that means to them. Ali is the director of Pro-Activity North Carolina, and also highly involved in the Academy of Prevention and Health Promotion Therapies.

In her spare time, she is an avid CrossFitter, runner, equestrian, and adventure seeker.

DR. DUSTIN JONES, PT, DPT, GCS, CF-L1

Dustin is a Home Health Physical Therapist with a background in sports and orthopedics. He received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2011 from the University of Kentucky and went on to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Russian Kettlebell Instructor (RKC-1), and CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1).

He blends what he has learned working with athletic populations to help older patients improve their function. The creator of GEROS Health, Dustin has been a key voice in shifting attention towards elevating the quality of care, and more specifically in many cases the intensity of care, that we deliver to aging adults.

Zach is the director of the Barbell Physio in addition to co-owning Onward Charlotte in Charlotte, NC where he specializes in the treatment of fitness athletes.

DR. JASON LUNDEN, PT, DPT, SCS

Jason specializes in the rehabilitation and prevention of sports-related injuries, with a particular interest in the biomechanics of sporting activities – running, cycling, skiing, snow- boarding and overhead athletics. He has published on the topic of shoulder biomechanics and the rehabilitation of knee injuries and has a strong commitment to educating others. Jason serves as a physical therapist for the US Snowboarding and US Freeskiing teams and is a frequent, well-received local and national presenter on the topics of sports rehabilitation and injury prevention. He is a recent recipient of the New Horizon and Emerging Leader Award from the American Physical Therapy Association.

Jason received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Minnesota. He received specialized training through the Minnesota Sports Medicine Sports Physical Therapy Residency, and received his board certification as a Sports Physical Therapy Clinical Specialist through the American Physical Therapy Association. He has also served as a faculty member for the Fairview Sports Physical Therapy Residency Program. Jason currently works at Excel Physical Therapy in Bozeman, MT.

DR. JEFF MOORE, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

CEO of ICE

Dr. Moore received his doctorate of physical therapy degree with high honors from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. Most recently he completed his Fellowship training in orthopedic manual therapy through Evidence In Motion. Dr. Moore has spent the past eight years working exclusively in outpatient orthopedics.

He launched the Institute of Clinical Excellence in 2012 and became a faculty member with Evidence In Motion in 2015. Between these two companies Dr. Moore regularly teaches manual therapy courses around the globe.

DR. ZAC MORGAN, PT, DPT, OCS, CF-L1

Zac completed his residency training in Austin, TX with Texas Physical Therapy Specialists through Evidence in Motion. Zac is an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, CrossFit Level 1 Coach, and an avid proponent of health and lifestyle approaches to solving the healthcare crisis. 

Zac and his wife Alexis are partners in Pro-Activity Tennessee out of Nashville, TN where they work with employers and individuals in a population health approach as well as providing Cash-Based PT services.

CHRISTINA PREVETT, PT, MScPT, CSCS, PhD (c)

Christina finished her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of Toronto in 2007 and graduated with her Masters of Physiotherapy from McMaster University in 2013. She is a firm believer in the strength of exercise for rehabilitation, especially with older adults. She began her PhD in 2015 in the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University. Her doctoral research looks at the utilization of strength training principles for healthy aging and   prevention of disability.

She runs and operates STAVEOFF Physiotherapy and Exercise Facility in Kingston, Ontario in Canada with her husband, Nick.

DR. STEVE SHORT, PT, DPT, SCS, CSCS

Steve is a Sports Certified Specialist through American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and currently a Fellow-in-Training through Regis University’s Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship program.

Steve serves as the Team PT for the Denver Nuggets as well as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach.

Kelsey valentine, pt, mscpt

Kelsey is a physiotherapist at STAVEOFF Physiotherapy where she treats a mixed caseload of clients with pelvic floor diagnoses as well as general orthopedic injuries and athletes. She graduated from Queen’s University in 2015 with a Bachelor’s of Kinesiology and in 2017 with a Master’s of Physiotherapy. She enjoys helping women realize their self-efficacy through physical activity and exercise.
