A little about me. I have practiced physical therapy for 30 years. I have a BS in PT (UW-Madison), MS in PT (Univ of Alabama, Birmingham), DPT/FAAOMPT from Evidence in motion (2014/2015). Yes, I am an old fart but young at heart, hence the slightly wild picture. My daughter is a professional selfie taker so I took lessons from her.
Professional background: Currently, I work in a sports medicine hospital based clinic where we see a mostly active and motivated population including a fair number of adolescents since I work with the only 3 Pediatric Orthopedists in the state. Clinically, I see a wide variety of patients ages 5-90, but a fair number of hips/proximal buttock pain after publishing a case series on Ischial Tuberosity Fractures in adolescents. Proximally, I work closely with a shoulder surgeon so I see high number of cervico-shoulder patients. So, while I do see a fair number of spine, it is only about 30% of my caseload. My post-professional research was on cervicogenic headaches which branched off to a little TMD. My manual therapy background is eclectic but prior to EIM was heavily Maitland-based so the basic clinical framework was already in place. Graston IASTM certified 1-3. Neurodynamics, TDN (basic only) (vitae available upon request) Board certification in SCS (pending).
Current teaching roles: I currently provide monthly lectures on orthopedic physical therapy to all of our sites, serve as faculty for our onsite sports residency, teach management courses with Evidence in Motion, and serve as a Fellow mentor for EIM. I believe communication skills are paramount to a great learning experience. I like to teach by empowering my mentees to be the best they can be which enjoying the process getting there.
Fun: Enjoy outdoor activities, running/skiing/snowboarding/hiking. Sushi/wine.
Travel locations: San Francisco, CA (Family/Friends) Central coast of California, Salt Lake City, UT, Prescott, AZ (kids attend colleges there), or 5-hour radius from my home (i.e., Idaho, Eastern Oregon, NV, Western Wyoming, UT) Other options possibly available with apple lead time.
